Inspect the area for any kind of glue that the patient may have used to self repair. The presence of glue may cause inaccuracies in the repair.
Option 1: Do not reattach broken area instead seat the denture and take a pickup impression to capture the area. A smooth transition from denture to acrylic is a good sign. Impression material on top of the denture can mean the denture has shifted or is ill fitting.
Option 2: Reattach broken piece - glue it and verify the fit in the patient’s mouth. Check fit and need for reline prior to send to the lab as this may be the reason for fracture. Fill gaps/resorption by taking reline impression.
