Clinical Guides
Impression Protocols
Initial Impressions
  • Use appropriate stock trays that capture all anatomical landmarks
  • Take care to avoid distortion during impression taking
  • Alginate impressions must be poured promptly
Final Impressions
  • A custom tray is mandatory for all final impressions
  • Must include proper border molding
  • Use of a tray adhesive is required
  • Inspect impression thoroughly — must be free of voids, folds, or pulls
Bite Registration Requirements

To ensure aesthetic and functional accuracy, all bite registration blocks must include the following dentist markings:

Midline
Canine Line
Smile Line
Occlusal Plane
Note: When any of the above markings are missing, BDS cannot guarantee the aesthetics of the try-in. Missing information may result in additional charges for resets.
Shade Selection Protocol

All tooth shades must be provided using the Vita Classic Shade Guide. For denture cases, any other shade system will be converted to the nearest Vita Classic equivalent, which may incur a conversion charge.

To avoid delays and potential conversion charges, use the Vita Classic guide consistently across all case types.

Wax Try-In Approval Process

The wax try-in stage is the opportunity to secure patient satisfaction with aesthetics, function, and fit before final processing.

  • Reasonable changes can be accommodated at the wax stage
  • Changes requested after the denture has been processed are limited and may incur additional charges
  • The Client must obtain documented patient approval before authorizing BDS to proceed to final processing
Denture Repair Submission Requirements
Full Denture Fracture (Clean Break)

Carefully glue the pieces together, verify the fit and bite in the patient's mouth, and send the assembled denture to the lab.

Partial Denture with Missing Tooth

Take an impression with the partial seated in the patient's mouth, ensuring the partial remains in the impression material. Send with an opposing arch impression, a bite registration, and the required tooth shade.

Add Clasp to Partial Denture

Take an impression with the partial seated in the patient's mouth, ensuring the partial remains in the impression material. Send with an opposing arch impression and a bite registration.
